The BBC has announced a new Saturday night magic show, which will begin early next year.

The new series called The Magicians will see three acts competing for audience votes each week by performing a range of tricks with celebrity partners.

Today is the calm before the storm…

Office* 2010, the first ever Exhibition dedicated to PA’s, Executive Assistants and Office Managers launches tomorrow at Earls Court and Magicians.co.uk will be entertaining at the after show Party at Planet Hollywood, where our fantastic sleight of hand magicians, pickpockets, mindreaders and illusionists will be entertaining the guests and presenting a very modern magic show on the Planet Hollywood stage.

Squaremeal Venues & Events 2010, one of the UK’s most prestigious event industry exhibitions, is coming up next week, showcasing more than 250 venues and event suppliers.

The British Ring’s 74th annual magic convention is just a few days away. The four-day event will be held in Eastbourne on 22nd September 2010 with an amazing line-up of magicians, great competitions, workshops and performances.

The Blackpool Magicians’ Convention in February 2011 will be incorporating the first ever FISM European Championships of Magic; a competition that will involve a range of stage performances as well as close-up magic performances.

FISM (Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques) represents some 60,000 magicians from 50 countries and nearly 1,000 registrations have already been processed for the 2011 Convention.

The International Magic Convention is known all over the world as Ron’s Day, named after the late great Ron McMillan who conceived the idea in 1972.

In 1984 International Magic added a close up magic competition to the event which is held in extremely high regard by magicians all over the world. Past winners include; Lennart Green, Carlos Vaquera, Gazzo, Mark Sicher, Gary Kurtz, Carl Cloutier, Michael Vincent, Bob Sheets, Chad Long, Chris Power, Shoot Ogawa, Pete Wardell and of course Kevin Reay after whom the competition trophy was named in 2003.

The magical weekend also includes a public gala show which this year will be held at the Mermaid Theatre on 26, 27 and 28 November 2010.

Comedy Pickpocket ‘The Man of Steal’ has been shortlisted for the title ‘UK Act of the Year.’

The award is part of the 2010 Event Awards. Other shortlisted acts will be revealed this week and the winner will be decided by an online vote.

To vote, you must visit www.eventmagazine.co.uk, where you can also see videos of the performers. The winning Act will be announced at the Event Awards Ceremony on 24 September at The Roundhouse.
