This years International Magic Convention and London Festival of Magic (14th – 20th November) was a huge success, with the themed festival days leading perfectly into the main magic convention itself. There was a real buzz about the whole event this year, with some spectacular magic on display.

The convention is organised by the MacMillan family, with events, including the Gala Show, booked and organised by Noel Britten, who we would like to thank for a job well done!

The Magic Circle Christmas Show is now just one month away and will feature an all-star line-up with some of the countries most talented Magicians performing their award winning acts.

The show, held at The Magic Circle Venue in Euston, will include Comedy Pickpocketing from James Freedman “The Man of Steal,” mind blowing magic from Pete Wardell, Duncan Trillo, Mark Shortland, illusions from Jason Steel & Joanne and conducted by Mind Reader Martyn Rowland.

The Show will take place from 27th December to 30th December, with an afternoon and evening show on each day. As you can expect with such a fantastic group of performers, tickets are selling out fast, so get yours now at The Magic Circle website.

Our team is feeling great this morning,  following yesterdays heart-warming charity event for The Variety Club Children’s Charity, hosted by Magicians.co.uk.

The children were treated to an action packed day of magic workshops, balloon modelling, plate spinning, face painting and many more exciting treats at The Magic Circle Headquarters.

The events grand finale was a children’s magic show featuring some of the UK’s top children’s entertainers, who all happily donated their time to help the worthy cause. With hilarious hosting by Rob Page, witty mindreading from Martyn Rowland, the juggling antics of Johnny Slap,  clowning by James Freedman and magical tours from Tim Bran, there were many beaming smiles from the delighted children.

Last week Stage Pickpocket James Freedman “The Man of Steal” appeared on Channel 5’s ‘The Gadget Show, showing the hosts some of the secrets behind the con-men to help them create a high-tech gadget bag.

Later this year Channel 4 will produce a one-off special presenting the untold life of British national treasure, comedian and magician Tommy Cooper. The ninety minute special will draw on previously unheard audio and unseen archive footage from Cooper’s personal and professional life as well as never performed before material and details from the meticulous diaries of his life-long manager Miff Ferrie.

It will also feature a wide variety of contributors from those who tried desperately to save his life the night he collapsed on stage to some of his most famous and unexpected fans. A spokesman said “The discovery of this archive offers up new insights into Cooper’s fascinating 35 year relationship with his manager and also how, in latter years, Cooper the family man and Cooper the legendary entertainer actually began to meld into one.”

For those of you that can’t wait to find out more about the legendary comedian and magician, you will be pleased to learn that Tommy Cooper’s secret joke archives are now available for all to enjoy. The book, Tommy Cooper’s Secret Joke Files, include a fascinating look at the painstaking process used by the magician to catalogue and index his material, and the fine tuning that turned an original thought, written down as a few random lines, into a brilliant one-liner.

The Magicians has been recommissioned for a second series and will air live when it returns to BBC1 in January 2012, marking the first time a live magic show has been broadcast on TV in the UK in more than 30 years. The new season will also include live voting.

The shows format will also be aired in over 50 territories around the world including New Zealand, Hong Kong, the Middle East, Portugal, Australia, Finland, Norway and Thailand.

The first series of BBC1’s Saturday night The Magicians, starred our very own Luis de Matos, Chris Korn, comedy magic duo Barry & Stuart with host, Lenny Henry.

Whilst the exact details are to be confirmed this coming series is expected to follow a similar format with three leading magicians competing across five weeks, performing with a different celebrity partner each week.
