Close-Up Magician of the Year 2010
Each year, at the end of March, magicians compete for the Devano Trophy and the title The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year. This year the finalists competed in front of five judges and a packed theatre at The Magic Circle Headquarters in London on Monday March 22.
Congratulations to Matthew Garrett, who took first place in the contest this year, performing traditional magic with his own twist. Like many of our performers, Matthew is a member of The Magic Circle, the most exclusive club in the world. The Magic Circle is dedicated to advancing and promoting the art of magic, which is as mysterious and exciting today as it was when the society was founded in 1905.
