We were delighted to add a touch of magic when hundreds of delighted children took to the skies yesterday for a once-in-a-lifetime festive Flight of Dreams treat organised by Variety Club, the Children’s Charity and Thomas Cook.

The Flight of Dreams has taken place each Christmas for nearly 20 years and allows inner city and disabled children and other children with special needs to board an aeroplane and fly over the British Isles. The annual trip aims to treat young people who under normal circumstances may never get to fly.

The flight lasted an hour and travelled over the south of England. On board the flight, the youngsters to looked out of the windows searching for Father Christmas. At about 12.45 the pilot reported he had seen “something shaped like a sleigh and six reindeer on the radar system” and after a convincing bump, when Santa actually climbed aboard the plane, Father Christmas appeared on-board to chat to the excited passengers.

Our magicians entertained the young Santa seekers in their own VIP departure lounge, on-board the flight and at Santa’s grotto back at Gatwick Airport after the trip where everyone met Father Christmas and received a special present… now that’s magic!
